Senior Java Technical Lead – Data Adaptor Exciting senior-level opportunity in the insurance industry for an experienced Java professional. Work on enterprise-scale applications, modern cloud-native solutions, and microservices architecture using Spring Boot and AWS. Hybrid model with 3 days onsite in Markham, Ontario. What is in it for you: • Salaried: $70-78 per hour. • Incorporated Business Rate: $80-89 per hour. • 6-month contract. • Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week. • Hybrid model: 3 days per week on-site, subject to change. Responsibilities: • Lead the architecture and delivery of microservices built on Spring Boot. • Oversee migration from legacy SOAP to RESTful APIs, reducing system complexity. • Deploy and manage services on AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, Batch, Step Functions) with focus on scalability and cost optimization. • Drive DevOps practices, implementing CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments with Docker and Jenkins. • Enhance reliability through monitoring, logging, and performance tuning. • Collaborate with product owners, QA, and business analysts to deliver robust solutions. • Provide mentorship and code reviews to ensure technical excellence across teams. What you will need to succeed: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • Certifications in Java SE 11, AWS, or Guidewire are an asset. • 8+ years of Java development experience in enterprise-scale systems. • Strong expertise with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate, JPA. • Proven experience deploying, monitoring, and scaling applications in AWS. • Solid skills in API design, service integration, and data modeling. • Knowledge of databases (Oracle, MS-SQL, NoSQL) and optimization strategies. • Proficiency with build and automation tools (Maven, Jenkins, Git). • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and microservice orchestration. • Strong collaboration and leadership skills in Agile/Scrum environments. • Experience in insurance or financial services technology is preferred. • Familiarity with document management systems and third-party integrations (e.g., DocuSign, Symcor). • Exposure to monitoring tools such as AppDynamics or Sitescope, and documentation standards like Swagger or WSDL.
