This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer in the United States.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence at scale. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and analytics teams to ensure reliable, high-quality, and accessible data across the organization. The position emphasizes building streaming data systems, event-driven architectures, and scalable data pipelines. You will contribute to architectural decisions, implement infrastructure as code, and champion best practices in DataOps and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to shape a modern data platform in a remote-first, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data infrastructure supporting analytics, ML, and BI use cases.
  • Build and enhance streaming data systems using technologies such as Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, and Flink.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation across cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analytics teams to ensure reliable and high-quality data flows.
  • Drive adoption of Event-Driven Data Mesh architecture and promote DataOps best practices.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and platform enhancements that improve usability, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with strong proficiency in Python.
  • 3+ years of experience building and maintaining streaming data systems (Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, Flink).
  • Proven experience deploying infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Background in software or platform engineering environments, supporting internal developer or data teams.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience working remotely in a distributed team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience building and maintaining data lakes, ideally using Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg.
  • Experience collaborating with machine learning engineers or data scientists on Feature Store design and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with SRE principles and DevOps/DataOps best practices.
