Senior Data Engineer (Remote - US)

We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and scale robust data infrastructure that powers analytics, personalization, and insights across the organization. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to ensure data reliability, quality, and security. You will have the opportunity to implement scalable ETL pipelines, optimize data models, and maintain high-performance data systems using modern cloud technologies. This position offers the chance to mentor junior engineers, influence technical strategy, and contribute directly to data governance and observability practices. Working in a remote environment, you will help shape the systems that enable key business decisions and enhance user experiences.

Accountabilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows for analytics, reporting, and personalization.
• Develop and optimize data models and warehousing solutions using Postgres, Snowflake, and modern data lake architectures.
• Build secure, high-performance data infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services like S3, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, ECS, and Matillion.
• Collaborate with engineers to instrument event tracking and data flows from web applications.
• Partner with business and analytics teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code setups using Terraform or CloudFormation for data systems.
• Contribute to data governance, observability, and monitoring strategies to maintain accuracy and availability.
• Mentor junior engineers and help define the technical direction of data strategy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering with a focus on data infrastructure.
• Deep experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Redshift, Glue, Step Functions, ECS.
• Expertise in SQL, data modeling, and ETL pipeline development (Airflow, dbt, or similar).
• Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Python or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance in financial or regulated environments is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong problem-solving skills, a product mindset, and ability to translate complex data needs into actionable engineering work.
• Experience with Matillion is a plus.
