Safety and Security Certification Manager

In this role, you will lead the implementation and oversight of safety and security certification programs across transportation and critical infrastructure projects. You will ensure that projects meet all applicable federal and state safety regulations, conducting thorough hazard analyses, security vulnerability assessments, and system inspections. This position requires collaboration with project teams, management, and stakeholders to establish robust safety protocols, verify mitigation strategies, and maintain compliance with industry standards. You will guide the development of safety and security plans, provide technical expertise, and deliver training to staff on certification processes. The role offers a blend of strategic oversight, hands-on evaluation, and leadership to ensure projects are executed safely and efficiently.

Accountabilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage Safety and Security Certification programs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Conduct system safety hazard analyses, security vulnerability assessments, and field inspections to validate design and construction compliance.
• Review project plans, design drawings, and certifiable items lists for safety and security adherence.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to project teams on safety and security performance.
• Collaborate with management, labor relations, and stakeholders to communicate safety policies and ensure project compliance.
• Monitor project safety performance, conduct audits, and track hazards and vulnerabilities to closure.
• Deliver training on system safety and security certification processes for team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in health, safety, or security management, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Professional safety certification preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulations, reporting procedures, and system safety standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Experience performing hazard analysis, risk assessment, and compliance verification.
• Ability to work independently and provide guidance to diverse project teams.
• No security clearance required.
