WHO ARE WE InSpek develops optical microchip sensors capable of measuring multiple molecules, temperature, acidity, oxygenation, and more — directly at the heart of biochemical reactions. Our technology enables smarter production of medicines, food, and energy while minimizing waste. We are a VC-backed, ambitious team pushing the boundaries of what sensors can achieve. If you thrive in a dynamic, innovative environment and want to shape the future of sensing technology, InSpek is the place for you! WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING We are seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer to develop the mechanical part of InSpek’s sensing systems. You will work on the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of optical assemblies involving our chip-scale sensors, OEM components, and custom-made parts. Your work will ensure the mechanical and manufacturing readiness of components, from R&D tools to production-grade assemblies. Your role will be hands-on and collaborative, working closely with internal teams and external partners to debug, prototype, and manufacture next-generation sensing solutions. You will report to the Industrialisation lead. RESPONSABILITIES Mechanical design & prototyping: Design and iterate mechanical components and assemblies that meet cleanliness, sterility, and durability standards for bioproduction environments. Build and iterate prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other rapid prototyping methods. Conduct tests to validate performance and durability in real-world bioproduction conditions. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to debug and refine mechanical designs. Optimize designs for cost, scalability, ease of assembly, and compliance with biotech requirements. Contract manufacturing & Supplier coordination: Identify, qualify, and onboard subcontractors and engineering houses for specialized mechanical tasks. Work with CMOs, contractors, and industrialization partners to ensure mechanical components meet technical and quality standards. Contribute to procurement, timeline management, and technical documentation. Ensure smooth transitions from prototyping to volume production. Quality & Compliance: Perform mechanical testing and validation to ensure components meet performance and regulatory requirements. Support quality control processes, with an emphasis on compatibility with bioproduction and pharmaceutical standards. COMPETENCIES / PROFIL You are a hands-on engineer with experience in mechanical design and manufacturing processes. You can manage suppliers, solve technical challenges quickly, and contribute to robust sensor development. 4+ years of experience (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or industrial design, industrialization Strong background in mechanics, system design, and integration, including proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical prototyping (e.g. 3D printing) Hands-on experience with mechanical component selection, testing, and validation. Familiarity with hazardous environments such as bioproduction (preferred), space, and sub-sea. Experience with cleanroom, sterilization, material compatibility and radiation. Experience with supplier follow-up and project management Excellent communication and project management skills Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Fluency in English; French is a plus Nice-to-have: Knowledge of optoelectronic packaging or microfabrication Familiarity with ISO standards BENEFITS 💼 Health and life insurance (100%) 🍽️ Meal vouchers 🏃🏼 Gymlib account (access to gyms & sports) 📈 Employee stock options (BSPCE) 🏡 Flexible remote work policy 💥 Growth opportunities with potential for leadership roles 🎉 Regular social events 🌟 Inclusive culture 🚀 Unique opportunity to be an early employee at an innovative startup InSpek’s offices & laboratories are located at DocCity Suresnes, in the western Paris region.
