Job Description

Contingent upon Contract Award.

The Public Health (PH) Registered Nurse (RN) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) in this position will support public health initiatives at DOS and DOD sites in Israel. The PH RN or EMT-P is responsible for promoting and protecting the health of the community through inspections, assessments, education, policy advocacy, and direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support public health oversight for all food facilities, public facilities, Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), incoming food shipments, foodborne illness outbreaks, and vulnerability assessments of food facilities in Israel. 
  • Review facility inspections to ensure all facilities meet requirements, ensures appropriate food handlers training is completed, reviews food service workers’ medical requirements, and publishes results.  
  • Promote public health education and awareness efforts.  
  • Maintain compliance within all project site procedures, standards, and continuing educational and mandatory training requirements. 
  • Other duties as required, including direct patient care and response to public health incidents. 
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, the District of Columbia or country of record equivalent OR 
  • Current and unrestricted state Paramedic license, with National Registry EMT-P or approved equivalent.  
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred) or approved equivalent.   
  • Current ServSafe certification or equivalent. 
  • Additional Public Health certifications from USDA, individual states, or approved associations preferred. 
  • 2+ years’ relevant experience, preferably abroad or in austere environment, including 6 months’ experience within the past year. 
  • Prior relevant military experience preferred. 
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office. 

Education Required: 

  • Associates, Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Nursing - Candidates must be a graduate of a school of nursing that was approved and/or accredited by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or country of record equivalent at the time the program was completed. 
  • Certification as a Paramedic or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) from a recognized program or approved equivalent. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.  
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Valid Passport from country of record with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Israel.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a required security clearance. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.  
  • Must be able to relocate to Israel for the duration of the project. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
