Protection & Control Technician

This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of Milton Hydro’s systems that Protect and Control the safe and reliable distribution of electrical power. The incumbent will work with Engineering and Operations staff, as well as system Control Room Operators. KEY DUTIES *  Install and Maintain protection and control devices. *  Install, set up, and program equipment to automate devices in the field. * Install and maintain equipment that allows for the remote control of field devices. * Activities include the following: * Monitor and maintain SCADA/OMS systems and field devices. * Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with vendors. * Configure and test RTUs, IEDs, fault indicators, relays and reclosers. * Keep maps and data up to date. * Work within company mission, vision, values and policies at all times. * Other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Technician or Technologist diploma from an accredited post -secondary school, with a technical major (Electrical Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience. * Must be registered with OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Technician (C. Tech) or eligible and working towards a designation. * Distribution utility experience would be an asset. * Journeyperson Substation Electrician or equivalent an asset. * Experience related to SCADA, OMS system and peripheral devices and associated communication technology would be considered an asset. Additional training will be provided. * Proficient in Protection relay testing and configuration software (e.g SEL AcSELerator). * Knowledge of Protection and Control theory and application in electrical distribution systems. * Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. * Strong communication and team skills APPLY TODAY!
