Programme Senior Officer (Communities) Fixed Term Contract (18 months) Grade D - £45,091 - £53,460 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review. Working 36.5 hours per week Are you passionate about using working with communities to reduce health inequalities? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic and strategic Public Health Senior Officer to join our Communities Team on a temporary basis. The role will provide maternity cover and see management of various Community engagement contracts whilst leading strategic alignment across the Public Health Division and wider council. This unique role will seek to help continue the legacy of our Community Health Profile programme, ensuring access to up-to-date community health data. Key Responsibilities Manage various community public health contracts Development of the next generation of Community Health Profiles Line management of a Public Health Officer Translate public health policy into practice through interventions. Represent the council in strategic partnerships and public health forums. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is: Educated to degree level in public health or a related field. Experienced in local authority, NHS, or third sector work. Committed to professional development, including UKPHR practitioner registration. Skilled in relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
