The Program Director will lead and oversee a diverse portfolio of complex defense projects, driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and strategic growth. This senior leadership role manages multiple Program Managers and their teams, ensuring projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with contractual performance requirements. You will serve as a key liaison with stakeholders, fostering strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities for portfolio expansion. The position involves high-level strategic planning, P&L accountability, and oversight of organizational processes to support mission-critical Department of Defense initiatives. By providing direction, mentoring, and guidance, the Program Director ensures both project success and long-term growth within the portfolio.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead a team of Program Managers and cross-functional staff to execute multiple complex DoD modernization and sustainment projects.
  • Oversee the portfolio’s P&L, ensuring financial performance targets and cost-efficiency goals are met.
  • Maintain contractual compliance and ensure programs achieve high Contractual Performance Assessment Ratings (CPARS).
  • Drive internal and external communications to provide timely project status and facilitate stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify and implement solutions to program execution challenges, ensuring corrective actions are executed effectively.
  • Develop organic growth strategies and pursue new business opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Mentor and support Program Managers to enhance team performance, leadership capabilities, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure all reporting, documentation, and contractual obligations are met in accordance with guidelines.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field; Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of project management experience within the defense sector, with focus on Department of Defense projects.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams in complex technical environments.
  • Demonstrated record of managing multiple projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with experience driving portfolio growth and organic expansion.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.
  • Experience managing construction projects is a plus.
