This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Power Systems Engineer II in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and analysis of the next-generation electrical grid, supporting renewable integration, transmission planning, and compliance with industry standards. You will perform advanced power system studies, including steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses, to ensure reliability and efficiency of the transmission network. The position involves collaborating with internal teams and clients, preparing technical reports, and supporting generator interconnections and renewable energy projects. You will leverage modeling software and automation tools to optimize system performance while driving solutions that meet regulatory and operational requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically adept, and eager to shape the future of energy through innovation and practical problem-solving.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct power system impact studies including Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability analyses.
  • Perform technical analyses for NERC compliance, including TPL-001-4 Annual Planning Assessments.
  • Complete generator interconnection studies, incorporating Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) analysis when required.
  • Evaluate renewable and storage resource projects for compliance with Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements.
  • Participate in working group meetings, case-building efforts, and client consultations as assigned.
  • Prepare technical study reports and maintain study data to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality objectives, and communicate progress effectively.
  • Identify training needs and support knowledge development within the engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (emphasis in Power Systems preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience as a power systems engineer.
  • Hands-on experience with power system impact studies, including Dynamic Stability, Load Flow, Steady State, and Short Circuit analyses.
  • Proficiency in power system software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
  • Experience with automation and programming using Python.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration and grid modernization practices is a plus.
