Placement Officer (0.6) Application Deadline: 1 January 2026 Department: Central Health & Social Care Employment Type: Permanent - Part Time Location: Sandwell College Compensation: £16,967 - £19,670 / year Description Sandwell College is seeking a proactive and organised, part-time, Placement Officer to support learners on Health and Social Care. This is a vital role ensuring students are placed, monitored and supported in high-quality work placements that meet awarding body and programme requirements. You will act as an ambassador for the department and the College, working closely with employers, students and internal teams to ensure placements are safe, effective and support learner progression. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Identify, establish and manage placements for full-time 16–18 learners. Coordinate and monitor health and safety compliance for new and existing placements in line with College procedures Visit students on placement, completing reviews, documentation and observations in line with awarding body requirements Monitor learner behaviour, progress and professional conduct while on placement Support recruitment, initial assessment and diagnostic screening activities Promote and represent the programme portfolio to employers and stakeholders Plan and deliver weekly on-campus sessions for full-time Social Care learners Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject Broad understanding of Health and Safety requirements and willingness to undertake relevant training Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
