This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Personnel Security Specialist in the United States.

As a Personnel Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding sensitive and classified information by managing security clearances and personnel vetting processes. You will ensure that only qualified and trustworthy individuals have access to protected resources while maintaining compliance with federal regulations. This position involves working closely with teams across the organization to provide guidance, conduct investigations, support adjudications, and facilitate training on security best practices. You will also maintain accurate personnel records, oversee incident reporting, and collaborate with senior security leadership. The role requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex security requirements in a remote work environment with occasional local travel.

Accountabilities

·        Process and maintain security clearance applications and background investigations for Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret levels.

·        Track and review security forms (SF-86, SF-85, etc.) for accuracy and completeness using systems such as DISS, eAPP, SWFT, or NBIS.

·        Support adjudication by reviewing investigation results, identifying security concerns, and recommending clearance actions.

·        Maintain up-to-date security files and ensure compliance with NISPOM, DoD 5200.2-R, and other federal regulations.

·        Conduct initial, annual, and debriefing security briefings, and develop educational materials including newsletters.

·        Investigate and report security incidents, including loss of classified material or suspicious behavior.

·        Coordinate visit request maintenance and renewals to ensure ongoing personnel access.

·        Collaborate with Facility Security Officers to support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

·        Strong knowledge of NISPOM and federal security clearance processes.

·        Attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

·        Experience with security databases such as DISS, eAPP, JPAS/NBIS, SWFT, and ACCS.

·        Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to provide superior support across teams.

·        Five or more years of security-related experience preferred; Security Professional training a plus.

·        Familiarity with MS Office, Adobe, and enterprise software (e.g., Costpoint) is desirable.

·        Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

·        Ability to work full-time remotely with occasional local travel for meetings.
