Perfusionist

We are searching for a Perfusionist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide perfusion services to support cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) during congenital heart surgery, ECMO support, VAD support and cell saver procedures in an age-appropriate manner. Think you’ve got what it takes? Job Duties & Responsibilities Performs direct patient care by operating the heart lung machine, ECMO, VAD, cell saver, and other support systems. Sets up CPB circuits and other support systems according to case preferences and age appropriateness 100% of the time. Completes the pre-pump checklist prior to the start of CPB 100% of the time. Administer blood and medications before and during CPB per protocol and as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. Maintains pre-established range for mean arterial pressures by using appropriate interventions such as the use of Isoflurane via a vaporizer and/or the use of medications as directed by the surgeon or anesthesiologist 100% of the time. Maintains appropriate patient temperature levels during CPB as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. Maintains physiological correct blood gases and ACT levels during CPB using appropriate medications as necessary as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. Provides patient support to monitor care areas during ECMO/VAD procedures 100% of the time. Ensures that pump team supplies and equipment are readily available at all times. Completes Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for all analyzers (ACT, glucometers, Gem Premiere) 100% of the time. Participates in Staff education and is responsible for personal, professional growth and development. Skills & Requirements Required bachelor's degree in science Required LP - Licensed Perfusionist by the State of Texas Medical Board, Required CCP - Cert-Cer Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion acquired within 18 months of entering the role
