Key Responsibilities This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Valpak (UK Comply) People department. Working as part of the team, you will be passionate and enthusiastic. Your positive, can-do attitude will help to deliver excellence throughout the business. You will help drive a people strategy that supports high performance, talent development and growth aligned to the departmental needs/objectives. In addition to the above you will oversee the full colleague lifecycle, continually seeking to improve the colleague experience. About the role This role is responsible for managing key HR operations and processes, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality people services across the organization. It involves coordinating complex personnel procedures, maintaining compliance with employment law, supporting colleague engagement initiatives, and driving process improvements. The position also includes line management responsibilities, payroll and benefits administration, and collaboration with internal teams to uphold exceptional service standards. Work with Line Managers & Heads of Department in supporting them through any personnel procedures in day-to-day case work such as probations, performance improvement plans, investigations, grievances, and disciplinary hearings always ensuring legal compliance. Oversee and provide support to the People Advisor regarding all first line employee relations. Maintain Wellbeing programme and continually review offering/approach. Manage Payroll & Benefits process, ensuring all deadlines are met. HR Policy & Compliance – ensure current policies are reviewed and maintained, liaising with the wider Reconomy People Function where required HR system improvements – review and implement any changes required as part of the wider Reconomy People strategy Lead on Colleague Engagement & survey output Regularly review and deliver Management Training (deliver where appropriate) Keep up to date with UK employment laws & practice Participate in ad hoc Reconomy People Team projects Maintain monthly reporting cycles to inform decision making across the organisation What we need from you Self-reliant and able to work under pressure Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases/issues IT skills: Word, Excel, Power point Previous experience of HR practices Demonstrate ability to analyse information and create solutions to solve problems Stakeholder management skills Competency to multitask, prioritise and manage own workload, meet deadlines and deliver a better employee experience People management experience Proven work experience in a similar role Degree level or equivalent (desirable) CIPD level 5 qualification or be working towards it What we offer Dual Location / Hybrid worker Status Participation in our annual Incentive Plan (VIP) - up to 10% bonus 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, volunteering day and your birthday off!
