We are a supportive, student-focused department committed to innovative teaching and applied learning. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in forensic psychology, who can contribute to our BPS-accredited programmes and lead high-quality modules. You will bring university teaching experience, subject expertise, and an emerging or established profile in research, scholarship or professional practice. About the Role The successful candidate will help design and deliver teaching content across a range of modules at Levels 4 to 7 in Psychology Programmes, as well as contributing to curriculum planning and development, and engaging in research or scholarly activity in Psychology. They will have the opportunity to develop new courses and help guide the focus of teaching and research in Psychology at Bath Spa University. They will also be engaging in relevant research and scholarly activity in support of the university’s research strategy, to inform and enhance curriculum design and to improve student experience. In addition, you will be supervising or mentoring colleagues with less experience and advising them on personal development. About You A good first degree in Psychology (BPS-accredited), or equivalent, and appropriate postgraduate qualification in psychology and/or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity of relevance to psychology Recent, successful experience of university-level teaching in core Psychology Working knowledge in designated subject area, with ability to teach in core areas of Psychology Excellent ICT and digital teaching skills, including effective use of e-learning and VLE tools Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills with a demonstrable commitment to student-centred learning A PhD in a relevant Psychology discipline Recent, successful experience of leadership of modules and/or programmes Experience of writing successful funding proposals, external bids or income-generating activities Practice-based experience in investigative, forensic and/or criminal psychology that can enrich teaching and employability Fellowship of the HEA (or active progress toward it) Understanding of the evolving HE sector and its implications for the Discipline of Psychology and the School of Sciences For further information on the essential and desirable skills we’re looking for, please refer to the attached Job Description. Additional Information Salary: Grade Ac3s/Ac3a, starting from £44,746 rising to £56,536 per annum The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Applicants with fewer than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment. Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period.
