We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to drive the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to development teams, mentor engineers, and oversee complex application projects from conception to deployment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, product managers, and QA, to ensure scalable, secure, and user-friendly applications. Your work will directly impact mission-critical systems, guiding technical strategy and innovation while maintaining best practices. This role requires a balance of hands-on coding, system architecture expertise, and leadership in an Agile environment. The position offers full remote flexibility with occasional travel as needed.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and project goals.
  • Design, implement, and maintain applications that enable efficient, secure, and user-friendly experiences.
  • Evaluate current platforms and recommend architectural improvements and long-term strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software architects, developers, QA, and project managers, to deliver robust solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain applications for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement long-term solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor team members, and promote knowledge sharing and consistent coding standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, integrations, and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system integration.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Java, SQL, JavaScript frameworks, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks and libraries (React, Angular, Node.js) and CI/CD practices.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices, data integrity, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in Agile or SAFe Agile methodologies; hands-on coding and team leadership experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with low-code platforms (e.g., Tyler Application Platform, Appian).
  • Cloud experience (AWS or similar) and cloud integration management.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TDD).
  • Previous experience in government or healthcare projects.
  • Knowledge of software security best practices.
