The Intermediate Application Engineer assists with the design, delivery, and improvement of the in-house software applications. They perform coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process
- Performs the design, coding, delivery and testing of changes to the company internal applications
- Applies the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of computer software.
- Executes full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Develops flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.
- Writes well-designed, testable code
- Produces specifications and determine operational feasibility.
- Integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
- Maintains software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
- Documents and maintains software functionality.
- Troubleshoots, debugs and upgrades existing systems.
- Ensures software is updated with latest features.
- Complies with project plans and industry standards.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- 2-4 years of experience in application development
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Licenses and Certifications
- IT Architect Certification, or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), or Certified Technical Architect (CTA), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), or Certified Application Developer, or Oracle Application Express Developer Certified Expert (Oracle APEX), or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification and Project Management professional (PMP) certification
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Language Skills: English – Advanced level proficiency
- French and/or Spanish is a plus
- Mathematical Skills: Intermediate level proficiency
- Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Advanced level
- Interconnect hardware and software (eg. PLC’s, using actuators and scales)
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner
