We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Associate to support our HR Business Partners and help drive excellence in HR operations. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love working with data, and enjoy supporting people programs, this role is for you.



Responsibilities

As an HR Associate, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and reliable HR data, supporting employees and managers, and contributing to strategic HR initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Data & Documentation: Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems, prepare employment documents, compile reports, and research information as needed.
  • Data Integrity & Analysis: Review HRIS data for accuracy, identify trends, and develop processes to improve data quality.
  • Policy & Program Support: Administer HR policies and programs, audit for compliance, and recommend improvements.
  • Employee Support: Provide first-level guidance on HR policies and resolve inquiries or escalate when necessary.
  • Talent Management: Assist with leadership development, performance management, succession planning, and diversity initiatives.
  • Employee Engagement: Promote engagement surveys, analyze results, and help facilitate action planning.
  • Organizational Alignment: Support job description development, organizational chart accuracy, and structure alignment.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate pre-hire, orientation, and exit processes to ensure a smooth employee experience.
  • Leave & Attendance Management: Track leave requests, manage documentation, and address attendance inquiries.
  • General HR Support: Prepare reports, schedule meetings, and assist with probationary reviews and HR projects.


Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources. 
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in HR, Business Management, Sociology, or related field. 
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices and labor relations ethics.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
