Role Overview
The Heavy Equipment Technician – Power Generation is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and performance of a power generation facility utilizing large reciprocating engine generator sets. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with informal leadership responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
The position requires performing engine maintenance and troubleshooting in-house, while coordinating specialized support from external service providers when necessary. The role also supports budget and expense processes through accurate reporting and contributes to long-term asset reliability planning.
While not in a formal supervisory capacity, this role plays a critical leadership function by maintaining strong relationships across teams and vendors. Their work is closely tied to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance, requiring ongoing engagement with field staff, technicians, and operations leads to ensure alignment, compliance, and continuous improvement.
