Head of Science (AY 26-27)

GEMS - TBS (The British School El-Rehab) are seeking an experienced Head of Science to lead and develop our Science Department. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision, lead a team of science teachers, and ensure high-quality teaching. Important note: The position is based in Cairo, Egypt, and candidates must be in Egypt or are willing to relocate. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and inspire the Science Department to achieve excellence Develop and implement a curriculum in line with the British Curriculum Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the department Support teachers with lesson planning, assessment, and professional development Promote innovative teaching strategies and the use of laboratory resources Ensure a safe, well-organized, and stimulating learning environment Prepare students for internal and external examinations (IGCSE, A-Level, or equivalent) Contribute to whole-school initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related) Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) Minimum 4 years teaching experience in a secondary school, with at least 2 years in a leadership role Experience teaching IGCSE/A-Level Science preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills Passion for science and student development Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment Willingness to relocate to Cairo, Egypt Tuition Discount for Dependents Medical Insurance Social Insurance Transportation upon availability
