The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.

Our programmes focus on looking for early signs of disease in healthy people, so that we can:

  • detect health issues early
  • help prevent disease
  • ensure that anyone who does develop the disease being screened for has the best chance of early, more effective treatment
  • reduce people’s risk of developing a disease or its complications • support people in making informed decisions about their health

The Opportunity: The GVI Section Officer will provide management support and to supervise staff within own remit. This position plays a pivotal role within the BowelScreen Programme. The Grade VI Section Officer will actively contribute to the programme’s data analysis functions, including the production of reports and the maintenance of data accuracy and quality.

The Person - Professional Qualifications, Experience: (This job is only open to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies per WRC Agreement 161867)

  • Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing teams to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills, including experience working with large datasets, producing reports, and using MS Excel or similar data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments, collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience drafting and reviewing professional documentation, including correspondence, briefing materials, Parliamentary Question responses, meeting minutes, standard operating procedures, reports, policies, and procedures.
