Situated in the charming neighbourhood of Marylebone, Boxcar Bread & Wine is an all-day neighbourhood spot bringing together exceptional coffee, freshly baked pastries, quality food and wine, and a genuine sense of community. From early-morning takeaway trade to relaxed table service and soon a new evening wine bar offer, Boxcar is a place where quality, craft, and hospitality meet. We’re looking for an experienced and well-rounded General Manager to lead the team and drive the next phase of our growth. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves being in the thick of service, balancing the buzz of busy mornings with the warmth of evening hospitality. What you’ll be doing Lead day-to-day operations across both takeaway and dine-in service, ensuring consistency, pace, and genuine hospitality at every touchpoint. Actively lead from the floor, setting the tone, coaching your team, and being a visible, positive presence in service. Launch and establish our new evening offer, light plates, wine bar atmosphere, and exceptional guest experience. Build and motivate a strong team through clear delegation, coaching, and daily development. Take ownership of site performance, working closely with the MD and CFO on weekly and monthly financials, targets, and business strategy. Maintain and develop standards in coffee, food, and drinks, with a real passion for quality hot beverages and great presentation. Oversee rotas, cost control, and operational planning to balance service excellence with commercial results. Collaborate with group teams across marketing, finance, L&D, and recruitment to keep Boxcar thriving. What we’re looking for A confident, people-focused leader with proven experience running a busy, quality-driven café, restaurant, or all-day venue. Strong commercial awareness, comfortable discussing figures, reading P&Ls, and making data-informed decisions. A true coach and delegator who develops others while keeping standards high. Hands-on, guest-facing, and motivated by the details that make hospitality memorable. Excited by the idea of launching and growing a new evening wine bar concept. A passion for great coffee, wine, and food, and pride in delivering them beautifully every day.
