Job Title: Functions & Banqueting Manager Location: Rural Retreat Hotel & Wedding Venue, York Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary & Benefits £33,000 – £35,000 per annum, plus bonus and tronc Medical benefits 28 days holiday per annum, including bank holidays Meals provided on duty Staff Loyalty Scheme Uniform provided 5 days over 7 (45 hours per week, plus breaks) The Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Functions & Banqueting Manager to join a prestigious rural retreat hotel and wedding venue based in York. This is a heavily operational role, responsible for the flawless delivery of a wide range of events, ensuring every client’s vision is brought to life with style, confidence, and attention to detail. You will develop strong, trusted relationships with clients, giving them complete confidence that their event will be delivered seamlessly and to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Lead the operational planning and delivery of all events, including weddings, conferences, and private parties Act as the main point of contact for clients during their event, ensuring exceptional service and clear communication Build strong client relationships and translate their vision into outstanding event execution Manage, motivate, and lead the functions and banqueting team, acting as a positive role model Work closely with kitchen, front-of-house, and management teams to ensure smooth and efficient event delivery Maintain exceptional standards of service, presentation, and attention to detail Ensure all events are delivered in line with company standards, health & safety, and operational procedures Remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Skills & Experience Required Ideally 2 years’ experience in a similar functions, banqueting, or events management role Excellent communication, leadership, and delegation skills Positive, approachable, and confident personality with strong public relations skills Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail Ability to manage multiple events and deadlines effectively Proven ability to perform well under pressure About Chefs for Chefs Chefs for Chefs are committed to promoting equal opportunities regardless of age, gender, religion, belief, race, sexuality, or disability.
