As the Financial Literacy Content & Research Intern, you will research effective financial habit-forming practices for Gen Z students, provide recommendations to make the curriculum hyper-relevant for Making Waves students, give feedback on outreach and marketing efforts, develop social media content, and conduct usability testing on the curriculum itself. This internship offers a unique opportunity to combine research, marketing, and hands-on testing to create an engaging and impactful learning experience.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
User Experience Research & Testing
- Conduct research on effective financial habit-forming practices tailored for Gen Z college students, drawing on academic studies, industry reports, and user interviews.
- Analyze research findings and provide actionable recommendations to enhance the relevance, accessibility and engagement of financial literacy curriculum.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on the outreach and marketing plan for the financial literacy curriculum.
- Participate in testing and usability studies of the financial literacy curriculum, providing feedback for improvement based on user experience principles.
- Assist in creating reports, summaries, and visual presentations to communicate research insights and testing results.
Content Development & Curriculum Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings and feedback into curriculum design and delivery.
- Review raw data from the Student Survey’s to identify trends and student needs, then formulate ideas or campaigns around a relevant financial literacy topic based on findings.
- Research what other organizations are doing to teach financial literacy to Gen Z and potentially connect with them to gather insights on effective strategies and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling and educational social media content promoting the curriculum to Making Waves students.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions on financial literacy education.
- Pay: An hourly rate of $18-20/hour. In line with our commitment to equity, fairness, and transparency, we have adopted a no salary negotiation policy. This internship is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for user experience research, testing, and curriculum development. The Financial Literacy Content & Research Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Coaching Department in optimizing and promoting new financial literacy curriculum, intended to equip Gen Z college students with the knowledge, tools, and habits needed to achieve long-term financial stability and success.
- Current undergrad college student in California
- Ability to commit to this internship’s schedule (~6 hours per week)
- Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to synthesize research findings into actionable insights
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
