Role Summary
The Financial Analyst supports the Accounting & Finance department in Ottawa by managing financial reporting, analyzing project performance, and collaborating with operations teams to achieve key business objectives. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in financial processes.

Key Impact / Purpose

  • Provide accurate financial reporting and analysis to support business performance.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to improve project and regional financial outcomes.
  • Drive process improvements and support strategic planning initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the regional risk and opportunities register for construction business units.
  • Perform project financial audits and evaluate against KPIs to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for Ottawa Construction divisions; streamline reporting processes.
  • Support the Finance Manager with budgeting and long-term planning.
  • Monitor WIP reports and collaborate with Finance and Operations Managers to meet billing targets.
  • Promote communication between finance teams and Project Managers to resolve contract and invoicing issues.
  • Assist with implementation of new finance initiatives.
  • Complete ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects.
  • Evaluate financial reporting systems and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable aging reports and coordinate collection efforts.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and perform monthly project costing entries.
  • Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts ensuring cash resources meet working capital requirements.
  • Assist with the external audit process.

Must-haves:

  • 2-3 years of project-related financial management experience.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or in progress; equivalent education and experience considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with high accuracy.
  • Resourceful, energetic, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.

This is a new position. Expected annual compensation; $60,000 - $73,000
