As an Experienced Controls Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced power generation equipment. You will lead on-site controls activities, troubleshoot complex systems, and collaborate with customers, field technicians, and internal teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, hands-on experience, and strong problem-solving skills, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge turbine and generator systems. You will operate in a dynamic, safety-focused environment with both domestic and international travel. This position offers the chance to work independently while supporting large-scale energy infrastructure projects, making a tangible impact on operational reliability and performance.
Accountabilities:
· Manage controls activities on-site during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy-duty turbines and equipment.
· Plan, organize, integrate, and direct resources including labor, tools, and materials to meet project requirements.
· Troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and electrical/mechanical instrumentation to ensure systems operate effectively.
· Provide technical expertise and consultation to customers, service support, field technicians, and operators.
· Ensure all in-field activities comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and contractual obligations.
· Attend technical meetings with customers and provide timely, accurate internal and external reports.
· Offer expert guidance on complex projects and OEM packaged products.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 5+ years of relevant experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or equipment installation/commissioning.
· Completion of required TFA II training programs.
· Experience with Gas Turbine Driver Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems.
· Knowledge of Mark VI, Mark VIe, or Mark V control systems preferred.
· Ability to understand, implement, and troubleshoot controls software and instrumentation calibration.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
· Willingness to travel extensively, including international assignments, and work holidays, weekends, or overtime as required.
