Job Title ESL Teacher Immediate Supervisors Director of Language Training Unit, Team Lead of Language Training Unit Classification Teacher Wage Starting at $25.83 per hour (non-inclusive) Starting at $40.20 per hour (inclusive) Closing Date: September 26, 2025 Start Date: ASAP until March 31, 2026. May be extended, may become permanent. Hours: 2.83 hours/day (11.32 hours/week). Afternoon Class: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Job Purpose Under the direction of the Language Training Director, the ESL Teacher assists immigrants in their transition to a new culture by helping them develop English language skills and community knowledge that will enhance their participation in our multicultural society. Duties and Responsibilities Administration  ·       Ensures learning by modifying and adapting curricula to meet the needs and abilities of students. ·       Provides participant progress information by soliciting feedback from learners, evaluating skills, completing reports, and maintaining student files and portfolios.  ·       Improves learning opportunities by evaluating unit plans and activities and making required changes.  ·       Provides program information and data by maintaining student records, preparing required reports, and participating in staff meetings and internal committees.  ·       Keeps supervisor informed by regular reporting as required and advising them on emergent issues. Class Facilitation ·       Supports the learning of participants by providing appropriate instruction on program guidelines, evaluations, assessments, and consultations with learners and staff.  ·       Facilitates learning by preparing and delivering lessons and providing individualized coaching and assignments as required. ·       Meets specified learning objectives by designing and implementing unit plans based on approved themes and benchmarks. Plans will specify learning objectives and contain 50% communicative activities. Relationship Management  ·       Helps participants access community services by providing information, consulting, making contacts and referrals; provides real life learning opportunities, both within and outside the classroom.  ·       Fosters respect for cultural diversity by informing and educating the community about immigrant and cross-cultural issues. Other duties as assigned.   Education and Experience ·       Bachelor of Education or other Social Science Degree and certification in teaching English as a second language, plus one year of experience delivering instruction or programming to immigrant clients, OR, ·       Bachelor of Education or other Social Science Degree and three years’ experience teaching English as a second language to adults who are new Canadians adapting to life in Canada. Required Licenses and/or Certifications ·       CERTESL or completion of other TESL Canada recognized teacher training program, and/or teacher certification from TESL Canada or Provincial TESL organization.   ·       Criminal Occurrence Security Check – Must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check in good standing and within three months prior to first day of employment.
