Purpose of the post:

To assist the clinical team to provide ophthalmic care by performing preliminary examinations and tests required for paediatric and adult ophthalmology clinics.

The Ophthalmic technician will work as part of the newly established multidisciplinary Primary Care Eye Team (PCET) which includes the Consultant Ophthalmologist, Clinical Optometrists, and Orthoptists. The team aims to deliver adult ophthalmic care including pre and post-operative cataract clinics, glaucoma clinics and medical retina clinics with an intravitreal injection service.

All clinics are delivered from Grangegorman Primary Care Centre and satellite clinic in Ashgrove house, Navan road. Training if needed will be undertaken between these sites and the Mater hospital
