Purpose of the Post

Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing Older Persons Services and Hospital Manager, the Director of Nursing, Assistant will be responsible for the management of nursing and ancillary staff delegated to him/her.

He/she will be responsible for managing the delivery of safe, efficient patient care within the hospital and play an integral part of the Hospital Management Team.

He/she is an essential link in Nurse Management providing support to the Director of Nursing Older Persons Services at St Mary’s Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for both nursing and ancillary staff at all levels providing strategic leadership. He/she will work in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Older Person Services, other professionals and service managers to achieve the service goals. The position involves a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and change. The post holder will also deputise for the Director of Nursing in their absence.
