Director of Data Engineering

At Ford Credit Europe, we’re on a mission to modernize our data platforms and unlock the power of cloud and AI. We’re looking for a Director of Data Engineering to lead our European practice and unlock the full potential of our data ecosystem on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

You’ll lead a talented team of engineers and consultants, manage large-scale data pipelines, and ensure robust regulatory reporting. You’ll also represent the data engineering function in executive forums and help shape our AI adoption strategy.

• Design and build scalable, production-grade data solutions on GCP
• Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and architectural patterns
• Lead, manage, and develop a team of 40 talented data engineers, fostering their growth and career progression.
• Operate mission-critical regulatory reporting systems for Ford Credit’s UK and German banks
• Collaborate globally across Europe, India, and the US
• Drive AI engineering initiatives across the region

The minimum requirements we seek:

• Deep experience in data engineering and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, including management of multiple teams
• Experience of regulatory reporting in financial institutions.
• Hands-on expertise with BigQuery, DataFlow, Terraform, Airflow, and more
• A passion for innovation, problem-solving, and continuous learning

Our preferred requirements:

• GCP certifications
• AI/ML engineering experience

This position is based in Dunton, and it is expected the successful candidate will be able to attend the Dunton office for typically 4 days a week and remain flexible on the days they are required to attend the office according to business requirements.
