Design Engineer Department: Design Employment Type: Full Time Location: Rochdale Reporting To: Ian Wilkinson Description Job Title: Design Engineer Company: Salt Separation Services Location: Rochdale, on-site Department: Design Team Compensation: £40,000 - £44,000 Salt Separation Services have been leading in desalination technology for over 35 years; specialising in the engineering, commissioning and servicing of reverse osmosis (RO) plants that provide drinkable water solutions across a variety of industries. Our systems are used in sectors including naval, oil, cruise ships, and more. We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our excellent and highly experienced Design Team. This role is essential in delivering both customer and in-house projects, producing designs that align with industry standards and client expectations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in RO and water filtration plant design and will contribute their skills in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 2D draughting. Key Responsibilities Design Production: Create RO and water filtration plant designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. BOM and MRP: Create BOMs to support smooth Material Requirement Planning Component Design: Generate main design components such as: Frame fabrication using the Frame Generator program. Pipework utilizing the Tube & Pipe program. Pressure vessel design to PD5500 standards using Inventor. 3D part modelling. Manufacturing Drawings: Develop accurate manufacturing drawings with detailed Parts Lists/BOMs for use by internal fabrication shops (mild and stainless steel). Machining Drawings: Produce highly-toleranced machining drawings for internal machine shops. Assembly Drawings: Prepare plant assembly drawings in 2D and 3D formats. Sales Support: Generate 3D General Assembly drawings for Sales quotations. BOM and MRP: Create BOMs to support smooth Material Requirement Planning. Vault Management: Organize and control usage of Vault design software. Project Management: Work under strict project deadlines and collaborate closely with Design and Project teams. Quality Assurance: Conduct FEA analysis, inspect equipment in-house and at supplier sites, and perform pre-delivery inspections. Collaboration and Communication: Work with workshop personnel to ensure timely assembly of equipment. Client Interaction: Conduct site surveys and maintain high customer satisfaction. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Time Management: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
