DEPUTY SERVICE MANAGER - SOUTH Application Deadline: 12 December 2025 Department: Operations Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time Location: NIHCSS Specialist Housing Related Support Reporting To: Janine Halliley Compensation: £28,706 / year Description Are you a senior recovery worker looking for the opportunity to become a dedicated deputy manager, helping individuals with severe mental health conditions live the best life possible? About NIHCSS NIHCSS is a partnership with Together and St Martins Housing Trust, both charities that support adults with severe mental health illness. We work with clients to facilitate independent living and believe in a world where anyone with mental health issues can live within their community with the choice and support they need to live their best life possible. As the Deputy Service Manager, you will also support the Service Manager to oversee the supported living service at Vanguard Court. Key Responsibilities As our Deputy Service Manager at NIHCSS, you will: Support the Service Manager at Vanguard Court Be responsible for nurturing and inspiring those coming to work for NIHCSS Help ensure we have the best staffing team, offering the best support services Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential ROLE SPECIFIC: At least two years’ full-time equivalent experience of working in front mental health and/or accommodation services. At least one year experience of supervising and managing others within front line mental health and/or accommodation services. Knowledge and practical experience of delivering high quality support to people experiencing mental distress. Experience of supervising people and teams and monitoring people’s performance. Leads the development of a culture which encourages innovation and continuous improvement. Able to establish and sustain local partnerships, developing creative ways to work together with other partner organisations. Acts at all times as an ambassador for Together. Commitment to the empowerment of people using services and promoting people's rights. Ensuring that people who use Together’s services have opportunities to develop the services they use. Ability to liaise and communicate well, both orally and in writing, with health professionals, general public, other providers and be assertive where necessary. Able to understand and convey complex service specifications and deliverables to direct reports. Knowledge and practical experience of using person-centred tools to support recovery and development of service users, as well as the ability to transfer such knowledge and any associated skills to direct reports. Good computer literacy including the ability to use Microsoft Office suite. Desirable Degree level qualification in mental health work (eg Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Registered Mental Nurse or Social Worker). Experience of managing a large team within Mental Health Accommodation services. Job Benefits What’s in it for you? About you Significant, recent experience of line management/supervision of staff in mental health or social care Relevant qualification in housing, social work, or similar profession, or equivalent experience Knowledge of Housing Legislation and experience liaising with councils Ability to lead and manage people and be a role model in all aspects of leadership, especially performance If you have the passion for delivering high-quality care and support services to people with mental health issues and want to make a difference to enable people to live a more fulfilling and independent life – then this is the role for you!
