Business Support Officer Location: OPCC – Mather Avenue, Liverpool Contract: Fixed Term – 2 Years Hours: 36.5 per week Grade: D (£30,333 – £32,613) About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), supporting the delivery of policing, criminal justice, and community safety priorities across Merseyside. Please note: While the Government has announced its intention to abolish the PCC model in the future, the OPCC will continue to operate fully during this period. We remain committed to delivering statutory functions and maintaining continuity of service. What We Do The OPCC helps the Police Commissioner hold Merseyside Police to account and deliver against the priorities of the Police and Crime Plan. Our small, dedicated team works across commissioning, policy and research, community engagement, finance, and business support. Our mission: To make a real and positive difference to Merseyside. Job Purpose To provide an efficient and effective business support service to the OPCC, including: Delivering specific projects and workstreams as directed by senior leaders. Providing high-quality, confidential administrative support across the organisation. Monitoring and analysing key work streams to ensure compliance with organisational objectives and statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities Service corporate meetings and produce accurate, concise minutes to deadlines. Manage diaries, correspondence, and administrative tasks for senior leaders. Provide research and briefing support on strategic and operational issues. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Support cross-team working and provide cover where required. Knowledge & Experience Experience servicing corporate meetings and producing accurate minutes. Excellent secretarial skills, including diary management, shorthand/speedwriting, audio typing, and word processing. Strong organisational and time management skills, with ability to prioritise under pressure. High-level communication skills (written and verbal) and understanding of confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to produce high-quality documents. Ability to research and summarise information for briefings.
