Purpose of the role

The BMS Engineer is responsible for delivery of maintenance, installation, and optimisation activities across all Building Management Systems. This role will ensure the effective integration of smart‑building technologies to enhance system performance and efficiency. The BMS Engineer plays a key part in maintaining the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of building control systems, supporting a safe, sustainable, and resilient building environment for all users.

The BMS Engineer is responsible for the specialist delivery of maintenance, installation, and optimisation activities across all Building and energy Management Systems (BEMS). The role ensures the effective integration and operation of smart building technologies to maximise system performance, energy efficiency, and resilience. The BMS Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of building control systems, supporting a safe, sustainable, and high‑performing built environments for all occupants:

  • liaise with stakeholders,
  • report and deliver progress reports
  • ensure adherence to relevant compliances and CHIs models of work
  • support with the dept. administration.

The Estates and Facilities department provides several essential services to CHI and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various CHI sites.

This role will be a trusted advisor to all CHI Facilities Management, and it requires someone who is a strong Leader, process driven with excellent organisational abilities. You should have extensive experience in Facilities Management as an electrician be customer focused and have a passion for excellence.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified with relevant experience, trade or certification and proven experience with a complex BMS.
  • Experience maintaining and installing BMS systems in a estates, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience with smart building systems (PMS/BMS, energy management, lighting controls, remote diagnostics).
  • Relevant trade, engineering qualification, or demonstrated technical competency in BMS platforms.
  • Computer, IT skills, including experience with digital work order systems, asset management tools, and basic networking as applied to smart building technologies.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a wider facilities/estates team, manage time effectively, and resolve problems in a critical environment.
