Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid)
Languages: Spanish (native/fluent) and English (intermediate–advanced)
Role Objective
As an Associate Tax Compliance Specialist, you will support the local Tax team with day-to-day tax compliance tasks for client companies. You will work under the supervision of senior team members and gain hands-on experience in tax filings, reporting, and client support.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance Support
- Assist with the preparation and filing of basic tax returns (e.g., VAT, withholding taxes).
- Review information and documentation required for tax filings.
- Help monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
- Support the preparation of simple tax compliance reports.
- Assist with reviewing invoicing and basic tax-related data.
- Respond to basic tax queries from internal teams with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Participate in client or advisor calls/meetings when required (mainly as support).
Administrative & Support Tasks
- Maintain and update client tax records and documentation.
- Help track communications and notifications from tax authorities.
- Support audits or reviews by gathering requested information.
- Assist with onboarding new clients or entities from a tax perspective.
Skills & Knowledge (Basic Level)
- Basic understanding of tax and accounting principles.
- Interest in learning about VAT, withholding taxes, and corporate tax.
- Basic understanding of financial documents.
- Ability to follow procedures and internal guidelines.
- Comfortable working with deadlines and checklists.
Tools & Systems
- Basic Excel skills (data entry, simple tables).
- Ability to work with internal systems and tax tools (training provided).
- Comfortable working with emails and standard documentation.
Communication
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to ask questions and learn from senior team members.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in tax, accounting, or an internship in a similar role.
- Spanish: Native or fluent.
- English: Intermediate to advanced (able to communicate with colleagues and basic client interaction).
