Inch Cape is a 1080MW offshore wind farm situated 15km from the Angus coast in the North Sea. The power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation at Cockenzie, in East Lothian from where it will enter the national transmission system. Inch Cape is a more than £3 billion infrastructure project that will make a significant contribution to the UK’s carbon emissions reduction targets. Once complete its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland.


Summary of Assignment:


The Assistant Marine & Quayside Coordinator shall provide operational, logistical and administrative support to the Duty Marine Coordinator ensuring safe and efficient coordination of daily activities within the wind farm and Montrose Port. This role is essential in tracking personnel and vessels in the execution of planned works and assisting in emergency response situations. The role will also be the focal point for quayside activities and control all quayside operations


Location: Montrose Marine Centre
Working hours: 12h shift (6.30 am to 6.30 pm) on 2 weeks on/off rotation at Montrose


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Duty MC with project vessel coordination including the monitoring of third-party vessels and safety zones utilising the VISSIM Vessel Traffic Monitoring system.
  • Assist the Duty MC in the tracking of offshore personnel, ensuring their locations are accurately tracked and logged within the VTMS system.
  • Support the ICOL Emergency Response Team during incidents and emergencies as directed by the Duty MC and Marine Ops Lead.
  • Assist in the execution of daily work plans in accordance with the ICOL Marine Coordination Procedure.
  • Assist the Duty MC with personnel registrations using the VISSIM Offshore Energy Manager system.
  • Monitor environmental conditions, providing weather and wave height data to vessels where required.
  • Monitor the ICOL MCC Inbox, ensuring enquiries are dealt with expediently.
  • Monitor project vessel compliance with indicative transit routes.
  • Assist the Offshore Site Manager as required.
  • Conduct general administrative duties within the MCC.
  • Assist the construction base office manager with cargo deliveries.
  • Attend CTV mobilisations within Montrose port ensuring prompt departure and compliance with ICOL HSE and PPE requirements.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by the Marine Operations Lead.

Skills:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate with vessels via VHF radio.
  • An organized, methodical and diligent approach to busy marine operations.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in planning.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook

Knowledge:

  • A basic knowledge of wind farm vessel operations.
  • Proficiency in VHF radio communications.
  • An understanding of wind farm emergency response organisation.
  • Basic knowledge of vessel and personnel certification and documentation requirements.
  • An understanding of how weather conditions affect vessel operations.
  • Good understanding of stores management

Qualifications:

  • Although no formal qualifications are required, previous experience working in a marine environment, particularly offshore wind farms, would be advantageous.
