Salary £28,142 - £32,061 per annum | 37 hours per week | Permanent, Full time | TS&SS Scientific Services | Preston, Lancashire Analytical Services Officer – Permanent Grade 6 We are looking for a motivated Analytical Services Officer to join our team at Lancashire County Scientific Services on a permanent basis. Working as part of Lancashire County Council, Scientific Services delivers a UKAS accredited scientific support service for internal LCC services and to commercial customers and covers a range of analytical services which include; Public Analyst Services Microbiology Water Food and Agriculture Consumer Product Testing You will be responsible for providing technical and analytical support across water and food chemistry and microbiology. Duties will include but are not limited to: Analysis of water and food samples following standard operating procedures using chemical and microbiological techniques Preparation of laboratory reagents and microbiological media. Inputting of results into LIMS. Disposal of laboratory waste. Maintaining the laboratory area in a clean and tidy manner. Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Carry out quality control and environmental monitoring activities in line with requirements of UKAS accredited Quality Manual and associated documented methods/procedures. Collecting samples from customers and bring them back to the laboratory for analysis Undertake weekend working on a rota basis Requirements for this role: Solid foundation in science subjects Recent laboratory experience preferably working within a UKAS accredited food / water laboratory Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining technical laboratory equipment Proven ability to learn and follow specific scientific techniques in relation to chemistry and microbiology Ability to use technical equipment with maximum accuracy and efficiency Familiarity and experience of Good Laboratory Practice Excellent written and oral communication skills Outstanding attention to detail Ability to work as part of a team or independently. Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement Ability to prioritise and manage own workload. Willingness to change priorities at short notice.
