The person appointed would be expected to: Identify the learning and support needs of Level 3 students through initial support interviews. Work towards student outcomes as stated in Education, Health and Care plans (EHCp) and take an active role in annual reviews. Be available to support students studying a Level 3 programme in accordance to individual needs. Maintain records of student attendance and progress and assist with the implementation of access arrangements. Maintain up-to-date records of work and provide regular progress reports on supported students. Be familiar with and have knowledge of the importance of individual EHC Plans. Liaise with students, parents/carers, teaching staff and Head of Department to ensure the support provided is the most appropriate and effective. Demonstrate an awareness of the various strategies appropriate for supporting students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). Monitor attendance and punctuality and address any poor attendance or pattern absence at additional support sessions quickly and effectively. Demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which disabilities and difficulties can overlap. Know your own limitations and be able to refer students on for other forms of specialist support where appropriate. Demonstrate an awareness of Safeguarding and The Prevent duty within the context of your role. Maintain an open approach to your work with all students. Work with individuals or groups to improve some or all of the following: Essay skills Time management Exam preparation Organisation and revision strategies Projects, case studies work Provide study skills presentations to subject groups and/or P.T Groups, when required. Provide training for staff to support students with SEND, when required. Provide tuition for students who have been identified as requiring learning support e.g. dyslexia. Liaise with Personal Achievement Tutors and Subject Tutors concerning student progress. Arrange individual interviews and provide additional resources if necessary. Provide transition support, both on entry to Carmel College and when leaving. Develop effective teaching and learning recommendations in response to student needs. Be available on Open Events to answer questions from parents. Work in collaboration with the Head of Department to monitor and review student learning needs to ensure the College maintains high levels of additional support. Monitor and review student learning needs through effective quality assurance and record keeping. To attend meetings and complete mandatory training in accordance with the colleges meeting/training schedule To assist at the colleges Open Evenings / Consultation Evenings Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who may be affected by his/her omissions at work. To undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require.
