Position #: 156979 Expected Start Date: September 29, 2025 Union: HSAS Facility: Addictions Outreach Office City/Town: Saskatoon Department: Addiction Serv Res Care Unit & Trtmt Facil-Adlt Outreach & Target Prev Services Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: September 28, 2026 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days, Evenings, Weekends Hours of Work: 224 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: Yes Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176 Travel Required: No Job Description: The Addiction Counsellor, accountable to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions Services, will primarily be responsible for supporting individuals that present with substance use and mental health issues. They will be required to assess an individual's needs and develop a treatment plan. This may include short term counselling and/or referrals to longer term resources and they may need to case manage the coordination of stabilization services to enhance a successful referral to ongoing services. The Addiction Counsellor must be able to recognize the elements of a client in crisis and implement immediate action appropriate to the crisis. This may include assessing for risk of suicide and developing a safety plan. They need to maintain a working knowledge of MHAS internal departments and services, and community resources including the ability to collaborate with and make referrals.
