1st Shift Fork Lift Operator

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA. General Description/Purpose: The Forklift Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently scanning freight to their assigned locations in the warehouse. The Forklift Operator reports to the First Shift Supervisor.  Work Schedule: * Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday - 5am - 3:45pm * Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday - 5am - 3:45pm Wages: $19.00 per hour Job Responsibilities: * Arrive on-time for the start of the scheduled shift and attend the daily start-up meeting * Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used for selection * Accurately put away freight, complete required letdowns and work the advance letdowns daily  * Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases discovered in the warehouse * Wrap pallets as needed to ensure stability through the warehouse and examine the pallet ensuring it’s of sound quality to be stored in overhead locations.   * Operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times * Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) requested by supervisor  Required Skills/Abilities: * Ability to read and understand English in order to understand customer orders and supervisor instructions * Able to operate the RF guns accurately * Ability to accurately put away and replenish freight * Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test * Must have reliable transportation to and from work   Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent * Forklift experience preferred but not required  Physical Requirements: * Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time * Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds   Benefits:  We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:  * Flexible Paid Time Off  * Company paid holidays  * Health, prescription, and dental insurance  * Life and disability insurance   * Supplemental insurances  * 401 (k) with company match * Employee assistant program   * Employee purchase program    River Valley Holdings is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
